Back to the Future

Australopithecus sediba

http://news.discovery.com/human/human-ancestor-australopithecus-sediba.html

A new species of human ancestor discovered in the South African series of Sterkfontein caves and who lived circa 1.95 million years ago; they had smallish teeth and walked upright, smaller brains (about a third of - ) and longer arms than ‘modern man’. Interesting too is that the 500 caves in the area of Sterkfontein (Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site) were to be found by Google Earth.

Truly new technology aiding discovery of that which we, up to now, did not even know existed (under our noses so to speak) and providing more pieces to the puzzle of human evolution.

From the pelvis it can be determined that they walked upright. Could they talk? No, and we know that from the size of the entry from the spinal court into the brain. Too small to contain the bundle of nerves that is necessary for speech. Maybe just as well!

Massachusetts Hooligans

Are we breeding a generation of bullies?

I am sure you saw it on the news, the15 year old girl in Massachusetts that committed suicide after she was relentlessly bullied by some school students. One tends to forget how very vulnerable you are at that age and that we erroneously believe society is supposed to step in and look after children.

My 2 cents’ worth is that parents have lost control over their offspring and that discipline is now contravening human rights.
Sure there are bullies, there will always be bullies, but  the main object of parenting is to prepare a child for life. It is not an easy task and life is difficult and gets more difficult by the day. How can you prepare a child for life if you don’t discipline them and teach them self discipline?

What do these bullies look like? Pretty ordinary I would say! Not too smart and not too pretty!

Here is a picture and I hope it goes round forever (and gets updated) until they eventually die one day!

Their names and photos will be in cycerspace FOREVER!
